I cannot take my hands off this phone, the Nokia E71. Well of course as a person who uses her phone a lot, I can say that about any "current" device I'm carrying. But I really try to fondle my E71 every chance I get. If you follow me and my conversations on Jaiku, you'll know that I gush over it all the time and recommend everyone to get it or at least try it out. Not only because it's a Nokia device, but because it's just so wonderfully pleasant to use. Most people who have tried it (as well as other competing devices) also agree. It's not perfect, but there are so many excellent features that it possesses and you overlook those couple of flaws. Besides, a thing doesn't have to be perfect for you to love it. And I love this thing. Even more so than the E90, N95 and E62 that I used before it, which are all fantastic devices in their own right.

Had it since February for some internal testing work but couldn't bring it out and show it off until recently when it was announced. I have the grey steel version (on the right). Haven't had a chance to see a white steel one in person, but the photos look good... if this unit gets recalled from me, I might pay out of my own pocket to get one for myself. Yes, I like it that much. But which colour? I usually go with dark colours but maybe for once I should go with the white one? Hmm.

Had a few cold drinks at the party, since it was so hot (I even put on sunblock just in case). When we finally decided to eat (didn't do that earlier because the food queue was too long), there was no food left! So a bunch of us (I think 7-8) ended up having our dinner at Hesburger (Finnish McDonald's). Of all places, yeah... well, goes with the cheap beers we had earlier that afternoon I suppose ;) We didn't feel like going to the official afterparty, so we went to Saha terrace for some drinks. Ok, I had one, and I was dozing off. Kinda rude to my co-workers I thought, so I decided to leave early. Got home, got sick. Really sick... high fever and chills through the night, waking up every half hour feeling either too hot or too cold. Throat hurt like hell, and overall just miserable. Went to the doctor on Monday, got some antibiotics and 3-day sick leave. Now feeling better, almost recovered, so no worries.

Anyway, looking forward to next year's summer party. Hope I'll be at 100% energy level then so I can party through the night :D

I did miss the food in Dallas, or should I say, the variety of food in Dallas. I've had Thai, Chinese, Korean, Indian, Italian, Tex Mex, Vietnamese, and more over the past few days. Perhaps more so, I miss the people that I've shared a part of my life with here. I hope they remember me as fondly as I remember them...

So difficult to switch back to work mode after vacation. So many VT errors. Grrrrrr.

Food: had so-so lunches of Korean and Japanese cuisines, but dinner at a Latvian restaurant called Staburags was simply awesome. I had pork chops stuffed with apple and red bilberries (sounds weired but totally delicious), with a side of grandma style potatoes (mmmmm....). S had a bloody steak with a side of sauerkraut which i stole a big portion of, because it was really good! I don't usually like sauerkraut, and he says it tasted like home. We then chilled with a bottle of spanish wine.

The trip ended on a high note when S met his girlfriend (unplanned) while waiting for the bus home in Tampere keskustori. Well, good for him at least, while I came home and nursed my aching feet :P

(Haven't finished uploading the pics... took quite a lot. Plus need to upload those from S as well. Check back in the near future for updates if you're interested...)
